Ahhh, the end of summertime edges closer and closer. As my time in Chicago nears to it’s end, I’m loving the way that the evenings always remind me that autumn is on it’s way. The nights have the tinges of cooler weather and the chirping of the crickets and cicadas becomes quiet at last. Living in the Uptown neighborhood has been a good experience overall. It’s very diverse compared to other neighborhoods in the city. A mix of people from all over the planet.
In a few weeks I’ll be moving from the big city to the outskirts of a much smaller exurb in Tennessee for a variety of reasons. One of the reasons is so that I can be living in a little warmer weather. The winters here in Chicago are very cold and difficult if you are not into hibernating all the time. While TN is still cold in the winter, it doesn’t get the extreme temperature drops you might find in the Midwest.
Another reason I’m moving is to be closer to my family. Not just my birth family, but a bunch of off the grid gay hippie type folk that live in the middle of the state. Everyone has their tribe they hang with and I’ve grown quite fond of mine. I’m willing to give up the distractions and the social games of the big city to be around people I know that accept me for who I am.
Another one of the reasons is that I’m going to be starting to work on a building project for a future cabin/workshop located near a large glbt focused intentional community. Being self sufficient is an important skill to have and I’d like to be able to put some of my skills towards building community as it will grow larger as more and more people discover that living in the city will become unsustainable in the long run. Growing your own food, living lightly on the earth, being aware that people matter more than things; those are ideas that interest me.
When springtime comes, I’m planning to build a cabin off the grid with my own hands. Self contained, solar powered and simply done. If I can massage thousands of men over the past 12 years, building a cabin should be a piece of cake, though I expect it will have it’s challenges as well.
I’ll have a living space/massage studio in Murfreesboro where I will take massage appointments in the meanwhile, and I hope to get back to doing some monthly travels throughout the Southeast as well.
So that’s where I’m headed to after the month of September ends. I’m in Chicago until the 20th of the month, so feel free to contact me for an appointment while I’m still here in town..
Cheers…
